A bank in Japan (Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi UFJ) is planning to create new teller jobs.
Well, good news you think? We know that reducing the number of branches is axing a lot of teller jobs so this should be something positive after all.
If you are a robot vendor this might make you smile. Yes “robot”. If you are in Japan you might face this new “RoboTeller” very soon.
It is said that this machine can answer basic questions in 19 different languages and even analyze your facial expression to see if you liked the answer.
We hear a lot about using video teller machines to add a human touch to the machine by videoconference calls between a (human) teller and the customer. But a robot as a teller – this sounds a bit strange (for me at least).
